The Zelos Class Battleships are flagships of the Bacterian Empire. They have the most provided protection for the hive minds where they command the Bacterian armies.
The green fortress Vic Viper flies to is Xaerous although this version didn't appear in-game until Gradius II
The first Xearous
Sometimes they are thought as organisms due to having Hive Minds as their brains.
