Ruta (ルタ Ruta) is an enemy in Gradius V.

Found only in the seventh stage, these enemies act more as an hazard than real enemies. During the stage, they just block the path and can't be destroyed, but if the player shoots at them, they will move and could be used to protect the player from other harmful and other indestructible enemies, such as the alpha versions of the Fire Cannons.
During the Keeper's Core battle, they will reappear again, but this time, they will be moving by waves from the left, bouncing on the screen and crashing into the Keeper's Core. The player need to avoid them, but could also use them to its advantage, particularly from the Fire Cannons which will be also present.
