O.V.U.M. is the final boss in Gradius Gaiden. It takes the form of multiple bosses from Salamander.

Attack patterns

Three Intruders circle in from offscreen to form a Zelos Force. After a certain period of time or after sustaining enough hits, it shifts forms again into a Golem before disintegrating (avoid staying at the bottom right corner, as the offscreen arms of a Golem will deploy as the boss shifts forms).

Trivia

• O.V.U.M. stands for "Original Visions of the Ultimate Monsters", which may mean it is the power of ultimate evil condensed into physical form.
  • It may also be the fusion of cells from the Intruder, Zelos Force and Brain Golem that ended up in the Dark Nebula and grew into one combined cell.
• It was never officially stated who or what exactly O.V.U.M. was.
• Shortly before the battle begins, a red face-like image can be seen in the background, which somewhat resembles an Intruder's face. This could possibly be O.V.U.M.'s real physical form before shapeshifting.
• The acronym O.V.U.M. is the spelling of the word ovum, which means "egg".
