Hanako (お花ちゃん Hanako-chan) is a recurring character in the Parodius series. She is Pentaro's girlfriend.
History[]
Hanako made her first appearance in Gokujō Parodius! ~Kako no Eikō o Motomete~, acting as a counterpart to Pentaro for the second player to control. She is Pentaro's girlfriend. She's similarly colored as Penko (Pentaro's mother), although her feathers are closer to magenta than pink, and in some games they outright appear orange.
It's unknown if Pentaro has any children with her, although one could conjecture that the Options both use in the Parodius games, pictured as small penguins, could in fact be their offspring.

- Gokujō Parodius! ~Kako no Eikō o Motomete~ (1994) – Appears as one of the selectable characters.
- Jikkyō Oshaberi Parodius (1995) – Appears as one of the selectable characters.
- Paro Wars (1997) – Hanako is led by Pentaro and his army of penguins.
- Konami Wai Wai World (2006) – In the mobile version, Hanako replaces Pentaro and transports the player to one of the six main levels.
- Gokuraku Parodius! (2010)
Trivia[]
- Hanako translates from Japanese as "little flower" and is a common Japanese female name.
- While Hanako technically originates from the Antarctic Adventure series, like Pentaro, she has never appeared in any of the games that comprise it, and instead was introduced and has exclusively made appearances throughout the Parodius series.
