Huge and gigantic dancer that shows up in Parodius. Look at her dance with the samba rhythm. This was inspired by the walker robot Crab from Gradius.
~ Description from Pixel Puzzle Collection

Chichibinta Rika (ちちびんたリカ?) is a recurring miniboss in the Parodius series. She is a gigantic Las Vegas showgirl that parodies the indestructible Crab enemies from the Gradius series.

Description[]

She is a parody of the Shadow Dancer, appearing as a giant Las Vegas showgirl.

Attack patterns[]

Parodius Da![]

Rika's first appearance shows her taking up a large portion of the screen. It is impossible to defeat her, so she must be dodged by slipping in between her legs and arms, moving only when she makes an opening for the player to move. She will then leave the player alone after a minute or so of this.

Gokujō Parodius![]

Rika returns two times taller than in Parodius Da! and her sprite is actually too large to fit the screen entirely. She still must be avoided, but she does have a nasty surprise waiting: wait too long and she will drop onto the player, revealing the top half of her body. She is accompanied by penguin enemies. As in her previous appearance, she will leave after a few minutes.

Jikkyō Oshaberi Parodius[]

This time Rika can run across the screen, but she still utilizes her normal attack pattern. Once again, she will leave after a few minutes.

Trivia[]

  • In the NES port of Parodius Da!, she was replaced by a similar boss named Miss Mishitarina.
  • Jikkyō Oshaberi Parodius was the only game where Rika didn't appear in her usual Las Vegas showgirl outfit, instead wearing an oriental styled costume.
  • Her name could be roughly translated as "Tiny, Face-slap Rika", likely meant as a pun on her enormous size.
  • She will occasionally stop to shake her hips, wink and blow a kiss.
  • She is named after Parodius' main producer, Chichibinta Tsukasa.
