Death MK III (デスMk-III Desu Mk-III?) is the first boss of the first boss rush in stage 2 of Gradius V.

Description[]

Death MK III takes after Death MK II, but it also adds its own uniqueness to the mix.

Attack patterns[]

Death MK III has similar attacks to Death MK II, but it also has its own unique set of attacks. *Note: All attack names are purely conjectural

  • "Missile Volley": As before, when the hatch opens, five missiles are released. Sometimes, they detonate with bullet patterns either spread towards the players or in sunburst. On higher difficulties/loops, these missiles have a stream of bullets trailing them. Unlike its predecessors, the hatch is now vulnerable regardless if the hatch is closed.
  • "Missile Barrage": Occasionally, it slightly backs off and deploys a barrage of missiles with some rigged to home in to the player or detonate with the aforementioned bullet patterns.
  • "Beam of Death": Once the hatch is destroyed, the laser shoots out as before like Death MK II.
  • "Beam Volley": Along with Beam of Death, it also shoots a volley of beam shots.
  • "Bullet Spray": Occasionally, Death MK III will come at front and attack from behind with bullet sprays.
  • "Homing Lasers": Along with Bullet Spray, Death MK III will shoot bending homing lasers from the rear.

Players should be careful of its entrance. It comes from the left to the right and if the players are not paying attention, they could ram into it.

Trivia[]

  • This upgrade can fire guns on its hatch after the hatch is destroyed, and this one can't fire Flying Cores as the same as the Death MK-I does.
  • The homing lasers Death MK III can fire are more curved than from the succeeding bosses, which are more linear. This is a reference to the same attack from RayForce and Mystic Square.
