Background

Death MK II is the boss most will recognize when talked about. This one was the boss of stage 4 of Gradius II. It also appeared in the Gradius III boss rush and was also a junk boss in Gradius Gaiden stage 2 and also serves a major role in the boss rush as DeathDouble. This one started the "SURPRISE!" second part Death is well known for.

Attack Patterns

Death MK II shoots missiles when the doors open, sometimes they're homing, sometimes they're not (this is game dependent). When the door is destroyed, Death MK II becomes faster and a giant laser charges then shoots out to prevent the core from being damaged. Don't get caught by this sneaky attack!

When it's in Gradius Gaiden as DeathDouble, the laser/missile roles are reversed. The lasers are the first phase then the missiles as the doors are destroyed.
