Big Core MK-I Rev.2 (ビッグコアMk-I Rev.2, Biggu Koa Mk-I Rev.2) is the boss of the first stage in Gradius V.

Description

Big Core MK-I Rev.2 is a modification of Big Core MK I. It is the first boss of Gradius V and is blown up in the intro movie. Be careful when fighting this in higher loops and/or higher difficulties as an extra Big Core will be added where the gap is, making a perfect circle and the two cores must be destroyed.

Attack patterns

Big Core MK-I Rev.2 attacks by shooting ion rings out of six ports around the arm rings. If you destroy enough of them, the Big Core will shoot out spread shots instead. After some time, it will shoot two long lasers and spin around.

On higher loops, another Big Core is added to the left of this contraption, adding to its firepower.
